The short answer
Choose repair or replacement after inspection and measurement. Tube condition, joints, splines and connection surfaces matter. Balancing does not replace the correction of mechanical defects.
Describe the application
Identify the vehicle or machine, the shaft location and when the symptom appears. Vibration under load, at a particular speed or after previous work provides different starting information. Include overall photographs and close-ups of flanges, joints and markings. Label dimensions as unknown when they have not been measured.
Inspect before choosing
The assessment should cover tube damage, connections, fits, play and previous repairs. Dana Spicer's service manual identifies excessive radial looseness as a possible cause of vibration. A request to balance the assembly does not, by itself, establish the necessary work.
Compare equivalent proposals
Ask for a breakdown of replacement components, restoration, assembly and verification. Compare repair and manufacture against the same application, dimensions and connection requirements. A price without a defined scope is difficult to compare. A sample may itself be worn or modified, so manufacturing from a sample also requires operating information.
Agree on the result
Before work starts, establish which parameters will be checked and how results will be supplied. Discuss completeness, installation and further servicing separately. An ALWAZEN enquiry can begin with a description and photographs; feasibility, price and timing follow technical assessment.
Information for assessment
- Vehicle or machine and shaft function
- Overall and connection photographs
- When vibration began
- Repair and modification history
Common questions
Can a photograph settle the decision?
Photographs support an initial assessment but do not replace geometry and joint inspection.
Should I order a new shaft immediately?
Not necessarily. First compare restoration feasibility with the requirements for a new assembly.
